Final Burn Alpha originally began as a continuation of the Final Burn emulator, which was created by a developer known only as Dave. Final Burn was one of the first emulators capable of running Capcom’s CPS2 hardware, making it a trailblazer in the scene. When development on the original Final Burn came to a halt in 2001, the source code was released and quickly picked up by other developers.
